Do you like games? Keep reading...

We have a very special treat for everyone this spring. We've constructed a digital adventure/puzzle game that anyone can play and the winner may take home a free copy of the new Side Effects: Legal Vice card pack (among other things!).

We've done these ARG (escape-room style) puzzles a couple times before and they've been great fun. But this year we've pulled out all the stops — deep story, a custom score, tons of Easter Eggs, etc.

On April 26, at 10pm ET, we will open the game to the public

The first 10 people to complete the game will be awarded prizes, with the first-place winner also receiving a certificate for a free Pillbox game of their choice.

The prizes for the first 10 winners are:

  1. Hex Effects: Bad Omens — a limited-edition, small-print run of Hex Effects that includes a silvery, reflective cover variant and two new action cards.

  1. Side Effects: Legal Vice Card Pack — our yet-to-be-released card pack that contains 3 new cards for Side Effects.

We don't want to tell you much about what the game is or how to play because half the enjoyment is figuring all that out. But we will say that in many ways the game has already begun. Since Hex Effects landed, people have been scouring the box, finding hidden messages. Those messages will take you to the game's gateway.

Kickstarter Backers Get Early Access

If you're a Hex Effects Kickstarter backer, you get a 12-hour head start on the game. The password to get into the game was given in a comment on the Backers-Only post on April 9.

3 Heads Are Better Than 1

The game is challenging and you'll want to share your clues, theories, and opinions with others. We strongly suggest you pair up with your friends, neighbors, or maybe just the folks on the Pillbox Games Discord.

More than anything we want this to be a communal journey. Yes, there are prizes at stake but everything we're offering here will become available to all of you eventually. Use this as an opportunity to enliven your weekend with an adventure shared by people near and far. Plus, you never know when your particular knowledge might be useful.

Good luck.
