S! Guys.

I need some people to test out the briefing page for me. Its basic at the moment, with a mock event set up. You'll need to register for the event first, then click on the following link : http://www.pillboxgames.com/RealismEvents/briefing.php

If you have any suggestions let me know. I want to add recon images at a later date (I.E screenshots of where the event takes place.)

Let me know what you think so far.

Thanks.

How many times? posted by PillBox on September 5, 2007

Have you died since you last survived?

There are two problems here - when I deleted the database, I lost all the data for the survivors (My fault, and I do apologise), however, for those that do not know - if you die, you loose all your leadership points and start over.

Hours before the event. No email on what our objectives will be and the TS server is down... crap. And all the allied squad leaders bailed. I dare this to get worse.

It's ok if you missed the training, it just laid out basic rules you must always follow.  I'm sure people can fill you in before you go to the event.  I can list some now.

1: Always fire!  Have all your squadmates keep firing in the direction of the enemy, even if you don't see them, using the berm rules.

2: Use ammo properly.  Have your squad leader co-ordinate who gives ammo to who.  Your LMG will need ammo often, so don't have 2 ammo boxes used up at once.

3: Use berms properly.  Instead of going prone over a berm, get into a positon on it where you can't see over while crouching, but when you stand up can see and fire.  Duck down again while reloading (and in riflemen's case, also when reloading individual bullets)

4: Have flank guards.

5: If you see someone with a funky hat, or HC uniform, shoot them, even if it means you will have to die in the process.

Basic stuff.

Well faltnor, I dont want to put all blame at you, but I think you walked us right in that ambush. You should've seen the pz and rifles with your binos, no?

We need to discuss some other tactics at the training, cuz this was a total failure.

Also 1 thing, they aren't all packed up at the FB, so the drive to audio limit and get out and walk to fb thing didn't work, cuz the enemies south of the fb still heard us coming.

And last... a tip for everyone .... look behind you :D

Wait a sec... that dude said he followed us for 5 min ... so he was like almost at our dropzone..    I think we need restrictions to the area were ya can move.

Well Illyrai. If my LMG player listened and deployed towards the pz audio we might have taken a few of ya with us.

Allied Mandatory Training posted by Gnpatton on April 14, 2007
I will be hosting a mandatory allied training April 28th (Saturday). All allies must report, squad leaders especially.

The training will partake on the training server at the same time the events are held, (19:30 GMT).

Of course axis players are allowed to show up as well.

When you show up, join a british persona and join channel 36 if you cannot already find my mission.

Please tell your friends about this training session. See you there.

Neat video mauser, hearing Faltnor go down brings a small grin to my face I have to admit :P

You guys were unfortunate in that you strolled right past Amled ambush squad. There was even a waypoiny marker on the map saying "Ambush" and you guys managed to park about 1km south of it, and stroll right past it and one of the guys in our Recon squad who followed you for about 5 minutes before pressuring you guys from one position, whilst the tank and ambush squad hit you from the west.

FB Attack posted by PillBox on April 9, 2007

Your orders were to elimate the enemy presence. That does not mean you have to kill them all, its just the most common way of elimination.

If you had captured the fb, the order would have gone out for a Axis withdrawal. You would have then suceeded.

Well i dont mind dying early, someone has to be first, but i think my whole squad (10 peaple) got wiped away, cuz we had no AT capability.

We just got flanked as hell, by some german squad + tank that was 1km south of fb, give a more direct objective next time like capture the fb or blow it... but not kill the enemy, i dont think that would be a mission in ww2.

Event 3 posted by PillBox on April 7, 2007

Loose the tanks? I dont think so, would any modern army not use tanks? Also, you complain that its not good enought that you have to defend/attack a fb. Actually, the reason why the event took place at the fb is twofold,

  1. People asked for a change to move out of the cities
  2. The event continued form event 2. The Axis could not capture the town, and the allies tried an assault on the axis base (a forward position, and that means that it is weakened, and awaiting reinforcements). Has the axis succeded in capturing Gravelines, they would have probably been assigned to attack dunkirk.

I have only had 2 complaints from 70 players, so it cant be all that bad. I understand your frustration at dieing so early, but crap happens.

well this event just s*cked ... it was even worse than the last event of lindir ( for me then ) .... got 0 min action ... whole squad wiped out in just 2-3 min ..

Loose the tanks.

And a fb isnt a good attacking spot ... cuz the enemies can be like 2km north from the fb or something else ... in a town ya know where they are...

I waited to long to say this. The Stukas NEED to use the stuka sirens when dropping thier bombs unless they are jettisoning them because they are being engaged By fighters. The Stukas from the last event didn't use them. IT IS A REALISM EVENT! It requires the stuka siren. Thank you

Those pics really reinforce how alone I was up there. Damn it was fun :D

Between when cobray's 251 despawned and I died I saw no Germans except Festivus, who was 500m away in a treeline.

Until April 7th ...

2th event posted by Monsx on March 10, 2007

the 2th event was GREAT, i first spawned as rifle but gnpatton asked me to be bofors. I got into position between the church and a house so i could see like 100 degrees from left to right. Then after a while i thought damn i wont have anything to do as a bofors, ill miss all the action. But after the rifles already were firing for like 20 min, somebody reported a Stuka and i heard it too, but i didnt see him and after a few sec i looked way up and i saw a stuka right above me diving. Gnpatton had said that i should let them get close and get an easy kill and im not too good at straight up firing, so i'd let him fly. I kept following him while he flew around the town ( grey circle), when i heard a second stuka and i looked up immediatly and saw the stuka dive at the same way as the first one, so i fired like 3-5 shots and hit him once, no vis damage but he went in a roll and while he was going down he dropped 1 bomb on the houses near me.  Then after folowing the other stuka far a few sec ago he flew very high, red/grey circle, above me  i shot again 3-5 times when i hit him. No visual damage, but i think a wing of the back tail was gone or the pilot dead, but anyway he was going down in a roll like 45 degree to ground.

Then i had nothing to do cuz all the ea was dead, so i moved my bofors to the nw houses where i stayed for a while. Then i heard that there was a big attack from west road so i moved more sw along the houses, till i got in a position to see the treeline the eis were in.

I scanned the area and then when i saw one i started firing like crazy.

After i didnt see any eis anymore i started firing at the 4d, but i had my resolution 800x600 so i couldnt see much far away with my gunner. After like 20 shots the 4d got me with mg fire, but a bug caused my bofors to auto fire ( without holding fire button when dead) so i still tried to aim at the 4d while i was dying.

At the end i got the 2 stukas and 2 rifles and a hit on another rifle and a hit on the 4d

i am not able to sign up on the allied side, is this because there is only 5 more allied players than axis?  I am already set to be assigned to a squad in the allied side, but i can't sign up there.

I get it posted by Faltnor on March 4, 2007
Ok but then the events would have to be MUCH more frequent or else if you die it would take you another some 6 months to get those rank points you lost after 6 MONTHS OF WORKING!! You know why those mmo players kill themselves right?

Rank Points posted by PillBox on March 3, 2007

Nope, sorry.

Think of it this way :

You are playing in the Allied army. You survive a combat, and get experience. You survive more combat, gain more experience and a promotion. Next time, you survive again and gain more experience. Then, in the next event you are killed by an enemy rifleman. You are now DEAD. Thats it, that 'characters' life has ended. Now, you restart from scratch as 'another soldier' and gain what you need.

Thats the whole point of the event. It makes the players fearful, and therefore they respond in a much more realistic way. No 'Blind Charges' over hills, no stupid risk taking etc. Every move is calculated, and if you die, well .... thats it.

Well posted by Faltnor on March 3, 2007
Well man I was reading and I noticed that you mentioned you lose ALL your rank points if you die in an event. I understand gaining one if you live but ALL if you die. We should rethink this man that would realy suck if you survived 9 events and died on the tenth one! Just saying.

Signup for event posted by Gnpatton on March 2, 2007

Pillbox I'm not 100% sure this is true. I had to re-signup myself because I couldn't signup, but I had the 'assignment details' link.

I think I'm missing a number of people to assing to a squad because of this. For instance I'm 100% sure lloyd403 (a squad leader) should be in my list of people to assign.

If you have already signed up for the event, you will not see the link, but instead will see an assignment link with your details for the next event.

Its the way I made the website - you do not need it once signed up.

Too Much posted by PillBox on February 19, 2007

You have given away too many details. Anyone who reads your post can already plan  how to counteract - this is not how realism events work.

It takes a lot of planing, side balance issues etc ....

Idea for Event posted by Faltnor on February 18, 2007
Message has been deleted
Faltnor - if you want to set up a scenario, or if you have an Idea, let me(pillbox) know or one of the realism event staff know. You have given away too much detail - you were foucused too much on one side - anyone who looks at this page couldhave seen you post, and made counter measures. The point of the realism events is for it to be secret till the last monent. The allies defending Calais may have been told that their primary objective was to hold the docks, while the axis plan was to destroy the southern cp. Things have to be kept secret to make the event enjoyable.
